Lukas Desarbo, received his NYS license in social work after graduating with his Master’s Degree from the Stoney Brook University School of Social Work and is a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders as well as general psychological conditions including depression, mood disorders, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and performance enhancement related emotional/behavioral issues. Lukas treats clients ages 12 and up using psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure response prevention (ERP). Additionally, Lukas studies and was trained in the understanding of physiology and neurobiological correlates of mental health and incorporates this science into his therapy patients helping them understand how their brain processes and functions

Lukas is experienced in working with adolescents, teenagers, and young adults. He has been a part of the ED-180 IOP and Day Programs since 2012 initially working as a biofeedback technician who was trained by Biosound Technologies (Safety Harbor, FL) in the operations of the biofeedback software and technology. In addition to working at ED-180, Lukas has experienced working in a residential setting at Monte Nido Eating Disorder Treatment Center in Glen Cove, N.Y. and was a regular participant in the annual Long Island Conference on Eating Disorders.

Lukas uses a combination of CBT, ACT, ERP, and DBT principles to deliver the best care possible to clients and cater to their needs. Lukas also incorporates bio/neurofeedback and mindfulness teachings into his therapeutic approach in the office setting. He is also trained to supervise therapeutic meals and group sessions with eating disorder clients and plays an active role in the development and implementation of customized programs with Dr. Jeffrey DeSarbo.
